The role
We are seeking a Commercial Director, Obesity to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive commercial strategy, establishing Numan as the UK leader in obesity care. Reporting to the leadership team, this role will oversee the commercial success of Numan’s holistic, digitally-enabled obesity care offering, as well as the commercialisation of new obesity treatments.
The successful candidate will take full profit and loss (P&L) ownership, driving profitable growth and new revenue streams within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. They will work cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Growth, and Marketing to ensure outstanding patient experiences and scalable business outcomes.
You’ll be:
* Developing and executing a robust commercial strategy for Numan’s obesity proposition, aligned with our wider company objectives and market opportunities.
* Leading and optimising existing revenue streams and overseeing P&L performance, implementing strategies to maximise growth and profitability.
* Partnering closely with Growth and Marketing to identify and capitalise on market opportunities, enhance our brand presence, and drive customer acquisition with profitable unit economics.
* Collaborating with Product to align commercial strategies with product innovation, ensuring an exceptional patient experience across all new and existing offerings.
* Identifying and developing opportunities for expansion into new treatment areas, leveraging synergies with existing categories and patient segments.
* Launching new distribution channels and forming partnerships to extend Numan’s reach and enhance the patient experience.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with key strategic partners, stakeholders, and external vendors to achieve commercial objectives.
* Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Staying abreast of industry trends, the competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decision-making and risk management.
* Conducting market research to uncover trends, opportunities, and competitive insights within the obesity care sector.
* Regularly monitoring commercial performance and financial metrics, presenting strategic recommendations to the executive team.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Holds a degree in Business, STEM, Life Sciences, or a related field; an MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
* Has extensive experience in a commercial leadership, business development, or strategic role within the tech, healthcare, or digital solutions sectors, ideally in a direct-to-consumer (D2C) setting.
* Has a proven track record of successful P&L management and delivering significant revenue growth, ideally at a scale of hundreds of millions of pounds, with experience launching new products or services and expanding into international markets.
* Has experience operating within regulated industries, including collaborating with and influencing regulatory bodies during periods of industry change.
* Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, with a history of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams.
* Brings excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable commercial strategies.
* Excels in communication and relationship-building, engaging effectively with internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders at all levels.
* Possesses an entrepreneurial mindset and thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
* Ideally has experience within healthtech or medtech, and an understanding of the obesity treatment sector, including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and emerging pharmacological therapies.
