The Pharmacy Production Unit of the Bristol Royal Infirmary is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4/5 Pharmacy Technician or Science Manufacturing Technician, who wishes to develop their technical expertise while working in our busy unit, which manufactures Nutrition, CIVAS, Immunotherapy, Gene Therapy, and Oral preparations under MS License, MIA(IMP), and Section 10 exemption.
Good communication & interpersonal skills are essential, and you must be motivated, flexible, adaptable, and able to work well in a team. Full training in departmental procedures will be provided, and the successful candidate will either have or need to train towards gaining the South West pre and in-process Checking Accreditation.
SMTs in training who have not yet qualified will be considered (at band 4 level) if they have sufficient aseptic experience and have or are willing to gain PIPC Accreditation. There will then be scope to progress to band 5 on completion of SMT.

* Performing duties according to the rota system, reporting to the senior pharmacy technician(s) responsible for the workload in their area.
* Training and validating duties such as aseptic dispensing of products and performing pre- and in-process checks.
* Carrying out activities in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures of the Unit and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice.
* Supporting the unit's Quality Management Systems in line with the role's competency.
NB:
Appointment or progression to Band 5 depends on both the following criteria:
* Experience: minimum of 24 months full-time equivalent working in hospital technical services
* Qualification/training: accredited to perform pre- and in-process checking in the relevant areas. Completion of the Science Manufacturing Technician qualification including receipt of the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Aseptic Pharmaceuticals, or a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician.
