The Senior Project Manager leads multiple construction refurbishment and industrial projects from tender stage through to completion. The role ensures safe, timely, high quality, and cost controlled delivery while supporting operational improvement across the company. This position provides leadership to project teams, develops programmes and applies an agile project management approach to maintain momentum and respond quickly to change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership and Strategic Planning
• Lead the planning and delivery of multiple projects with values ranging from small works to large commercial and industrial refurbishments
• Produce detailed project programmes, phasing plans, and resourced schedules
• Prepare Construction Phase Plans and ensure full compliance with CDM and statutory requirements
• Lead the tender handover process and provide early guidance on risks, opportunities, and buildability
2. Operational Delivery and Performance
• Oversee site operations across several locations and ensure excellence in Health and Safety, environmental management, and quality assurance
• Carry out regular site reviews, safety inspections, and construction audits
• Drive the team to meet programme targets and escalate deviations early
• Maintain robust cost tracking, forecasting, and commercial reporting across all assigned projects
• Ensure timely procurement of materials and subcontractor packages
3. Client and Stakeholder Management
• Act as the senior point of contact for clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
• Lead progress meetings, produce formal reports, and present programme updates
• Build and maintain strong working relationships to support ongoing and repeat business
4. Team Development and Leadership
• Mentor and support Project Managers and Site Managers
• Contribute to our process improvement including RAMS standards, project workflows, and planning tools
• Champion a culture of proactive problem solving, learning, and continuous improvement
5. Documentation and Control
• Produce and review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, logistics plans, and permits
• Maintain accurate project documentation in innDex and other company systems
• Issue formal client communications including instructions, confirmations, and variation notices
• Lead quality inspections, snagging, and close out activities
Skills and Experience Required
Essential
• Significant experience delivering construction and industrial refurbishment projects at senior level
• Proven ability to write Construction Phase Plans and lead CDM compliance
• Strong experience writing project programmes using Microsoft Project or similar tools
• Ability to apply agile project delivery methods in a construction environment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial awareness with experience in cost tracking and forecasting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for tracking frameworks
• Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation and site operational requirements
Desirable
• Experience with JCT contracts and commercial administration
• Background in industrial buildings, logistics facilities, manufacturing sites, or complex operational environments
• APMP or equivalent
• CIOB Member
• Level 6 or above in Senior Construction Management
