Are you a governance professional with strong interpersonal and leadership skills? If so, an exciting leadership opportunity has arisen within the JCC as principal advisor to the Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) and the JCC Team on all aspects of governance.
You will work with the JCC’s Senior Management Team, supporting the Chief Commissioner in fulfilling their Accountable Officer role and contributing to the development of strategy, commissioning arrangements, and the delivery of JCC responsibilities.
The successful postholder will be critical to promoting organisational governance and assurance, acting as an ambassador in demonstrating our Values and Behaviours. You will provide sound advice to the Chair, Chief Commissioner, and JCC team members on governance, assurance, and business matters. You will lead a team to ensure the effectiveness of the Joint Committee and the JCC Team, offering a discreet, independent, and challenging voice in deliberations and decision-making. The role involves working closely with Board Secretaries across NHS Wales Health Boards and Governance colleagues within Welsh Government.
The successful candidate will have line management responsibility for the Assistant Director of Governance and Business.
The role of the Committee Secretary is pivotal within the JCC and the JCC Team, serving as the principal advisor on governance matters. You will support the Chief Commissioner in strategy development, commissioning, and JCC responsibilities, while promoting and maintaining governance and assurance standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing legislative, regulatory, and governance developments impacting the JCC;
* Acting as a trusted confidant and providing confidential advice to the Chair, Chief Commissioner, and team;
* Guiding the JCC in effective conduct of its role, offering independent and challenging insights;
* Ensuring fairness, integrity, and non-discrimination in all dealings;
* Contributing to a culture embodying NHS and JCC values and standards;
* Protecting and enhancing the reputation of the JCC and NHS Wales.
