Overview
Maintenance Engineer role at Chemring Countermeasures. The Maintenance Engineer will cover mechanical and electrical requirements to ensure continuity of production operations and carry out planned maintenance schedules on plant and equipment.
Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical and electrical planned maintenance tasks in line with current schedules
* Plan and organise follow up work derived from planned maintenance checks
* Carry out planned calibration checks and portable appliance testing
* Attend to electrical and mechanical and plant breakdowns
* Coordinate any follow on activities between shifts leaving clear instructions
* Identify spare part requirements
* Carry out minor project work e.g. building rewiring, new equipment installations, process and asset movements, machine upgrades, CCTV installations, energy management etc
* Recommend and implement improvements to assets, plant and buildings to achieve gains in safety, quality, productivity and reductions in cost
* Ensure health, safety and welfare of themselves and others affected by their activities
* Comply with all health and safety procedures and regulations and demonstrate a commitment to health and safety
* Follow company environmental procedures and participate in environmental improvements
Maintenance Engineer Specification
* Right to live and work in the UK
* Time Served Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Level 3 Qualification in Electrical or equivalent
* Must not be colour blind
* Previous experience in Electrical Maintenance
* Previous experience in Mechanical Maintenance
* Experience in an automated process environment
* IT Skills
* Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
* Understanding of basic machinery safety
* Knowledge of abrasive wheel regulations
This role will be worked over a 28 day cycle with a rotating schedule (4 days on, 5 days off, 5 days on, 4 days off, 5 days on, 5 days off) including day and night shifts.
