Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd is urgently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Buyer on behalf of our client based in Sheffield. This is a key role within the procurement team, supporting both new product development and ongoing production.
Please note: candidates must have proven experience in an Engineering Buyer role.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineering Buyer will be responsible for sourcing mechanical components, castings, and fabricated parts from domestic and international suppliers. The role requires strong negotiation skills, technical understanding, and the ability to manage supplier relationships and ERP systems effectively.
Key Responsibilities

Source and qualify suppliers for engineered components
*
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts
*
Manage purchase orders and supplier documentation
*
Maintain ERP and PLM systems
*
Ensure timely delivery and resolve supply issues
*
Oversee import clearance and compliance
*
Conduct supplier visits and maintain vendor performance reports
*
Support project managers with schedule updates
*
Expand and maintain a compliant supply chain
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience:
*
Minimum 3 years in an Engineering Buyer role
*
Proven experience buying castings, forgings, machined and fabricated parts
*
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
*
Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain principles
*
Proficiency in ERP/MRP and PLM systems
*
Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe
Qualifications & Skills:
*
Degree in Supply Chain Management or technical equivalent (MCIPS preferred)
*
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
*
