Overview
Learning Support Specialist - Performing Arts (Fixed term to October '26) at Leeds Beckett University. A multi-skilled technician with experience in technical theatre to support day-to-day operations of Performing Arts activities. You will be part of a wider team of four Learning Support Specialist technicians in Music and Performing Arts, supporting teaching and learning activities for staff and students, and providing technical support for the School and University events program as required.
Responsibilities
* Support the day-to-day service for Performing Arts activities and public performances and visiting productions.
* Contribute to all aspects of technical support for five performance spaces including the theatre and black box.
* Operate and troubleshoot AV installation and problem solving; ETC Eos programming; QLab programming; digital sound console operation; live sound reinforcement including Dante/networking; rigging and stagecraft.
* Work as part of a team and as a lone operator, including running technical and dress rehearsals.
* Demonstrate significant experience in Health and Safety protocols within a performance environment.
* Provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills in end-client environments to deliver a customer-focused service and promote creativity while ensuring safe working practices.
* Work closely with learning support colleagues in the wider School teams to provide an integrated service and adopt a flexible approach to work location.

Qualifications and Requirements
* Significant demonstrable experience of professional technical theatre.
* Proven experience across technical disciplines contributing to production and performance (AV, lighting/sound, rigging, stagecraft).
* Experience operating in live show environments both as part of a team and as a lone operator.
* Comfort with running technical and dress rehearsals.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in client-facing environments.
