An exciting vacancy has become available within the Trauma and Orthopaedic service at Wexham Park Hospital. We are looking for an experienced Band 6/7 nurse to join our Trauma Nurse Practitioner team.
Applicants should have experience in trauma and orthopaedics nursing, possessing the clinical knowledge and expertise to support Consultant ward rounds, facilitate daily post-take ward rounds, and assist in preparing daily trauma operating lists.
Excellent communication skills are essential to collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families, providing clear explanations of procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans to ensure positive patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the trauma and orthopaedic service, engaging with various stakeholders across professional groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Enhanced skills modules will be supported to ensure the post holder acquires the necessary skills for this specialist role, including support from a highly visible Senior Clinical Matron and Consultants. The service operates Monday to Friday and involves line management of a Trauma Co-ordinator, as well as assisting in managing the National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) and other clinical governance practices.

Main duties of the job
1. Maintain close working relationships with Orthopaedic Clinicians and the nursing team.
2. Support trauma and orthopaedics nursing with clinical knowledge to assist Consultant ward rounds, facilitate daily post-take ward rounds, and prepare daily trauma operating lists.
3. Engage with various stakeholders across professional groups to prioritize patient care.
4. Facilitate daily post-round ward rounds and assist in preparing trauma operating lists.
5. Review all Trauma & Orthopaedic outliers daily with a care plan.
6. Provide education and advice to clinical and nursing staff caring for Trauma orthopaedic patients within the trust.
7. Line manage the Trauma Co-ordinator and assist in managing the NHFD and other clinical governance activities.
