About your new role
Our Litigation team is experienced in handling all kinds of disputes. We act on behalf of large corporates, owner-managed businesses, public bodies, insurers, regulatory bodies, and private individuals. Members of all levels of qualification across the team regularly deal with complex, high-profile, and sensitive issues across a broad range of litigation with far-reaching implications. The team and many within it are recognized in both Chambers and Legal 500.
Our Litigation team undertakes a broad range of substantial, challenging work, largely of a contentious nature. You will be required to support the lead partners and senior fee earners on a variety of commercial litigation disputes and independently where appropriate.
We are recruiting for a Litigation Solicitor 0-3 YRS PQE to manage their own caseload, including proactive management of cases with limited supervision.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Assisting the lead Partner and other supporting case handlers with their caseloads
2. Preparing advice and reports as required
3. Drafting and performing legal research and investigations
4. Attending conferences, court, and client meetings
5. Communicating with clients, counsel, and other parties
6. Involvement in business development and profile-raising initiatives, as well as alignment to relevant segment/sector groups
7. Completing client and internal MI procedures
8. Achieving set financial and chargeable targets
9. Ensuring relevant deadlines, quality measures, and KPIs are adhered to
10. Complying with relevant policies and procedures
11. Working in accordance with Weightmans’ values

About You
1. Broad experience of commercial litigation
2. Good knowledge of CPR with proven technical ability and achievement record
3. Ability to work to deadlines/targets, prioritize, and manage a caseload effectively
4. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team with a positive attitude
5. A commercial, solution-driven, and client-focused approach
6. Strong legal and analytical skills with an eye for detail
7. Excellent organization and time-management skills
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
9. Flexible approach and adaptability to agile working
