We are looking for a Loss Prevention Investigator to join our friendly and dynamic team at Waterstones in Leeds. The role involves overseeing stores across Yorkshire including Leeds, Bradford, York, and Hull. Your main responsibilities will be to protect staff, customers, property, and the business by maintaining security equipment, investigating incidents, and advising teams on incident response, aligning with the Loss Prevention strategy set by the Group Loss Prevention Manager.
What you will be doing
* Be a field-based security and shrink expert, identifying risks to reduce losses in your area.
* Serve as the Loss Prevention contact, advising Regional Managers, Cluster Leaders, Store Managers, and Staff on Loss Prevention matters.
* Prioritize and visit stores in your area based on risk assessments.
* Reduce shrinkage and cash loss by identifying risks and supporting store teams with solutions and coaching.
* Investigate thefts, data, and stock discrepancies to identify and apprehend offenders, building cases for arrest and prosecution.
* Utilize data, in-store intelligence, and security systems to analyze trends and collaborate with the wider team.
* Establish professional relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and external agencies.
* Work with Maintenance and Audit teams to ensure safety and compliance.
* Complete tasks within deadlines and escalate issues appropriately.
* Support other projects and requests from the Loss Prevention Manager.
What we need from you
* Experience in shrink and crime resolution, preferably in retail or policing.
* Ability to travel between stores.
* Knowledge of loss prevention policies and practices.
* Understanding of case building, criminal justice processes, and judicial interventions.
* IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and specialized software.
* Knowledge of data mining, investigation, and interview techniques (e.g., PACE, WZ).
