Support Worker Location: York, North Yorkshire – SEN School Contract: Full-Time (Part-Time Considered), Term Time Only Start Date: As soon as possible Pay Rate: £85 – £105 per day GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist school in York to recruit a Support Worker to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for compassionate and resilient individuals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of young people with complex needs. Full-time work is available, though part-time applicants will also be considered. About the School: The school provides education and care for secondary-aged students with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) profiles. With a strong focus on nurturing independence, communication, and life skills, the school offers a supportive and inclusive environment where staff and students thrive. Class sizes are small, with excellent resources and a high staff-to-student ratio to ensure personalised support. As a Support Worker, you will: Assist students with their learning, personal development, and daily routines. Provide individualised support to students with autism, complex needs, and SEMH. Promote independence and social skills through structured activities. Support behaviour management strategies to create a safe and positive environment. Encourage students to engage in lessons, social opportunities, and community activities. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff. The ideal candidate will: Have experience supporting individuals with additional needs (in education, care, or community settings). Be compassionate, patient, and resilient. Be able to adapt support strategies to meet the unique needs of each student. Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
