Job Description
Job purpose
Working collaboratively with the UKRI Strength in Places (SiPF) Living Laboratory consortium members and other key stakeholders the postholder will manage the development and delivery of a programme of engagement activities, including public and community engagement, events and exhibitions and skills development/training programmes and activities.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Ensuring alignment with the Living Laboratory Objectives, use specialist knowledge to develop and deliver effective engagement activities that meet the needs of the local community, schools, colleges and local authorities focusing on:
* Science engagement activities and experiences that are tailored to inspire and engage with different audiences;
* Skills training programmes (online & face-to-face) that are linked to the relevant curriculum, industry apprenticeships and other activities aimed at skills development (e.g. CPD).
* As the principal point of contact take a lead role in working proactively with key stakeholders:
* (esp. Glasgow Science Centre, Glasgow City Council, LL Community Engagement Officer) to oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of science learning & engagement programmes aimed at education and community audiences
* (esp. Education Scotland, DYW West, SDS, SFC) to support the implementation of Scottish Government’s STEM Education and Training Strategy and to collaborate, share best practices, enhance programmes and provide professional support as required whilst keeping up to date with current and new educational and training techniques and methods.
* Prepare reports to highlight progress in achieving all KPIs by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends as requested by the PMO or other governance bodies whilst suggesting proposals for change and making recommendations to enhance the Living Laboratory’s Engagement & STEM activities.
* To participate in relevant project and programme boards meetings to present updates on Engagement & STEM activities.
* To oversee and monitor financial records for Engagement & STEM in terms of spend and commitment against agreed plan/budgets.
* Work with the Living Laboratory Communications Officer and actively contribute towards the design and implementation of the communication strategies to promote and raise awareness of the Living Laboratory to academics, clinicians, industry and the general public.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the wider SiPF team.
* Work with the College to support agreed aligned College priorities, notably with the development and delivery of the Innovation, Engagement and Enterprise strategy.
Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential
A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, [Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4], or equivalent in a relevant discipline/business area with evidence of continued professional development in an area relevant to the role
A2 Understanding and having an awareness of the science engagement landscape
A3 Understanding of the economic development & skills policy landscape
Desirable
B1 An understanding of the Living Laboratory vision and objectives
B3 BSc or equivalent in a biomedical related science subject
Skills
Essential
C1 Project management –both short-term deadlines driven and longer-term involving multiple conflicting deadlines and coordination across multiple organisational units
C2 Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences
C3 A high degree of flexibility, ability to use negotiating and influencing skills with diplomacy and efficiency in a highly pressured environment.

E1 Experiencing of delivering Science Engagement and Skills Development activities to school pupils, families or community groups

E3 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles.
E4 Experience of presenting to large audiences
E5 Experience of budget management
E6 Experience of preparing reports for a range of audiences

F1 Experience of influencing and analysis of policy
F2 Experience of supervising or managing the work of others, delegating tasks and managing quality
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 7, £40,497 - £45,413 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended with funding available up until 30 September 2026.
