Cover Supervisor – Confident, Calm and Classroom-Ready
£110 to £130 per day
Cover supervising is one of those roles where you need to enjoy variety, because you’ll be floating through different subjects and age groups all week, but that’s what makes it exciting. This welcoming Northumberland secondary school needs a Cover Supervisor who can bring steady energy to the room the moment they walk in. No planning, no marking, just delivering the pre-prepared lesson and keeping the class focused.
If you love the buzz of a school day but don’t want the full marking mountain, this is ideal. You might be leading a Year 8 English lesson in the morning, then supporting a practical Geography task after lunch. You’ll get to know students across the whole school, which makes the job feel rewarding very quickly.
This school is organised. You’ll be given clear instructions, routines are well embedded, behaviour is fair and consistent, and the pastoral team is quick to step in if things get wobbly. They don’t expect you to be a superhero, just someone who can communicate clearly and hold the room with quiet confidence.
Your day might involve:
• Delivering pre-set lessons in different subjects
• Guiding students through activities and keeping them engaged
• Using your natural presence to manage behaviour with warmth
• Building relationships with pupils across year groups
• Learning the ropes of school life from a supportive team
If you’re exploring teaching long-term, this is a brilliant stepping stone. And if you simply enjoy the rhythm of school life, you’ll find real joy in becoming a familiar, trusted face in a vibrant school community.
