Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurosurgery
Closing date: 27 April 2026. Fixed Term: 12 months, Full time (40hrs).
We are excited to offer an opportunity for someone to join our busy Paediatric Neurosurgery team for a 12 month period, aimed at neurosurgery trainees at an equivalent of senior registrar level with an interest in paediatric neurosurgery. While this post is not formally designated as a training position and does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean, you will still benefit from full access to the teaching and training opportunities available to other trainees.
Responsibilities
* Report to the Paediatric Neurosurgery Clinical Lead and collaborate with the Specialist Registrar.
* Provide on‑call cover for the Children's Hospital during the day.
* Participate in the teaching of students and allied professionals.
* Attend Neurosurgery lists not timetabled if cases of interest arise.
* Engage in teaching hospital research opportunities.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified medical practitioner.
* Registered with GMC.
* FRCS (Neuro.Surg) or equivalent training experience.
* Completed Basic Surgical Training in posts approved by the Surgical Royal College or approved overseas equivalent.
* Distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships, other degrees, higher degrees.
* Presentations and publications.
Experience
* Validated logbook/appraisal document indicating appropriate operative experience.
* Competence in pre‑operative and post‑operative management.
* Demonstrated interest in Paediatric Neurosurgery.
* Evidence of participation or enthusiasm for audit.
* Understanding of the principles of audit.
Knowledge and Skills
* Potential to cope with stressful situations and undertake responsibility.
* A critical enquiring approach to the acquisition of knowledge.
Personal Attributes
* Behaviour in a manner which establishes professional relationships with patients.
* Capability of conducting operative procedures which may demand a number of hours of close attention.
* Manual dexterity as confirmed by referees.

£52,656 to £73,992 per annum, pro rata.
