County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Scrub Practitioner for the Bishop Auckland Surgical Hub.

Main duties of the job
* Participate in monitoring of standards of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
* Provide direct patient care, acting as a role model and applying expert knowledge of all clinical specialties.
* Audit and ensure accurate documentation in accordance with Trust policy, NMC and HCPC guidelines.
* Facilitate an emergency service covering all specialties during elective and non‑elective periods.
* Ensure the safe administration of drugs in accordance with Trust policy and professional guidelines.
* Carry out all procedures and techniques in accordance with local competencies and agreed policies and standards.
* Protect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of patients at all times.
* Act as patient advocate in all matters relating to their care, treatment and welfare.
* Check departmental cleanliness and, where necessary, assist the team in preparing, clearing and cleaning the operating suite and equipment before, during and after operations.
Job responsibilities
* Provide peri‑operative patient care as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Assess care needs, develop and implement programmes of care and evaluate outcomes without direct supervision over a 24‑hour period, caring for adults and paediatric patients undergoing routine and emergency surgery.
* Commit to regular night duty and out‑of‑hours work (not required for training programme starters).
* Deliver care within theatre environments across the range of specialties offered by the Trust, in line with local and national policies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, with scrub experience.
* Existing experience as a scrub practitioner.
* Experience as an ODP within the Operating Theatre.
* Willingness to work towards, or have completed, a Diploma or degree relevant to the department specialities.

Statutory Registration
* Registered with NMC or HCPC.
