This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to develop their career in a busy teaching environment.

This post is suitable for enthusiastic and meticulously organised applicants with relevant administrative experience within an education setting. The role involves providing high-level support to the Student Office team in the Department of Materials.

Based in the Student Office, the Student Office Administrator will support the efficient administration of all taught programmes in the Department of Materials. Responsibilities include managing coursework, organising work placements, year in industry/exchange programmes, and supporting UROP, Erasmus, and occasional students. The role requires close collaboration with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Senior Tutors, Admissions Tutors, and the MSc Course Director.


Coursework Management

* Work proactively with the Senior Tutor and Course Directors to support coursework submission and marking, including setting up and monitoring assignments on Blackboard Learn and reporting issues.
* Input all coursework marks into the department database, download student submissions via Blackboard Learn/Turnitin, and monitor academic staff marking, following up on late submissions as needed.


Student Support and Exams

* Provide committee servicing for Student Staff Committee Meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on actions.
* Act as a first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors, resolving queries and providing advice on policies and processes.
* Manage the student laptop scheme, including maintaining the ‘laptop pool’ and updating exam laptops.


Work Placements and Programmes

* Manage student information related to work placements and year in industry, including organising presentation days and liaising with external contacts.
* Set up and maintain the Blackboard folder for work placements, liaising with partner institutions to establish processes.


UROP, Erasmus, and Student Support

* Process applications for UROP, Erasmus, and occasional students, maintaining up-to-date records and liaising with students and institutions.


Candidate Requirements

* Educated to ‘A’ Level standard (or equivalent).
* In-depth knowledge of Higher Education procedures and policies.
* Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
* Administrative experience, ideally in education.
* Experience working with student record databases.
* Experience taking committee minutes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
