Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Trafford Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in a sought after role as the Senior Practitioner for Complex Emotional and Relational Needs.
The role will involve supporting a small caseload of Older Adults who may have Complex Emotional and Relational Needs, as well as providing input to the team to support the wider team caseload, supporting group work in the community (for example, Structured Clinical Management groups) and supporting the wider leadership of the team.
The Practitioner will work in a busy and dynamic team, working alongside other professions, including Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners, Support Workers and Administrators. The Practitioner will work closely with Psychology and Therapy colleagues, as we as a team, and Trust, expand our non-pharmacological offer to the client group.
Main duties of the job
* Providing Clinical Leadership, Supervision and Support to all staff in the team to ensure the support of people who may present with complex emotional and relational needs.
* Act as a Care Co-ordinator for a small caseload of highly complex cases who may present with complex emotional and relational needs.
* Carry out and develop detailed assessments and formulations in the wider team or service for people who present with complex emotional and relational needs.
* Contribute to the development of and provide therapeutic intervention using Structured Clinical Management (SCM) and via other relevant clinical pathways, to service users who present with complex emotional and relational needs and be prepared to engage with any relevant additional training which supports the role.
* Provide specific training to the wider team/services on the area of complex emotional and relational needs, trauma, emotional regulation and interpersonal difficulty and other areas as appropriate.
* Contribute to, deliver and facilitate the SCM group intervention for service users who present with complex emotional and relational needs.
* Collaborate and liaise with other specialist clinicians working with complex emotional and relational needs across the district (both secondary and primary care) in developing services that deliver optimum evidence-based care for people.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Psychological Therapist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or similar professional qualification
* Post graduate experience or post qualification education relation to Complex Emotional and Relational Needs
* Either qualified in, or willing to train in the delivery of therapeutic interventions such as SCM/MBT
* Additional qualifications in psychological interventions eg. DBT skills, SCM, MBT
* Accredited status as an SCM and/or MBT practitioner
Experience
* Post registration experience of working in multi-disciplinary in CMHT/Older adult setting or other relevant clinical settings and liaising with colleagues across services.
* Demonstrable post-qualification experience of working with complex mental health difficulties, including problems associated with complex emotional and relational needs, and severe depression, anxiety, co-morbid substance misuse and trauma.
* Demonstrable experience of providing clinical supervision and support to others with respect to their clinical work.
* Demonstrable experience of managing risk and developing plans to support individuals and systems to do so.
* Experience of participating in audit, service evaluation and research.
* Experience of participating in the delivery of group interventions or providing group supervision / reflection
* Ability to demonstrate further specialist clinical experience and development.
* Experience of developing clinical pathways and services
* Experience of providing training to colleagues and others
