Purpose of Role
We are currently looking to recruit a reliable, proactive, and skilled Caretaker to join our site team at Silverdale School in Sheffield.
Job Description
This is an important role supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the school, helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern:
•Shift 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
•Shift 2: 8:00am – 4:00pm
•Shift 3: 11:00am – 7:00pm
Flexibility is essential to cover all shifts as required.
Responsibilities
•Opening and closing the school site, ensuring buildings are secure
•Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
•Monitoring and maintaining site safety and cleanliness
•Supporting contractors and overseeing site access where required
•Conducting routine inspections of facilities and reporting issues
•Assisting with room setups and site preparation for school activities and events
•Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
Essential Qualifications/Skills
•Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities management (preferred)
•Practical DIY skills and the ability to carry out minor repairs
•Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently
•A proactive and flexible approach to work
•Strong awareness of health and safety practices
•Good communication and teamwork skills
