This vacancy is only open at this stage to internal employees of the following organisations within the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System:

* North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust
* Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust
* University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, inclusive of Black Country Procurement Group and North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service.
* Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board

Band 5 £31,049 - £37,796 per annum, full time 37.5 hours per week.

The role is to deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism to people who work in health and social care.

As a facilitating trainer you will have an in‑depth understanding of learning disability and autism and are likely to have training experience.

You will lead and support expert-by‑experience co‑trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability.


Main duties of the job

* You will lead and support expert-by‑experience co‑trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability.
* The facilitating trainer will:

Demonstrate positivity, recognising the strengths and abilities of individuals, including people with a learning disability and autistic people who are co‑trainers, and learners.

Gain an understanding of the perspectives and personal references of each co‑trainer with a learning disability and autistic co‑trainer when co‑facilitating, including reference to learners.

Be patient and really listen to what is being communicated by the expert by lived experience co‑trainers, and learners.

Recognise the presentation, behaviour and identity of people with a learning disability and autistic people, and learners, and respond with respect and compassion, without judgment.

Value and acknowledge the experience and expertise of people with a learning disability and autistic people, and learners, enabling choice and autonomy and protecting people's human rights at all times.

Act with integrity, honesty and openness, seeking to develop mutual trust in all interactions at all times.

Recognise, respect and value people with a learning disability and autistic people's differences and challenge negative stereotyping.

Job responsibilities

Role models exemplary behaviour in terms of conduct, attitude, performance, when delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism.

Demonstrates ability to effectively support experts with lived experience co‑trainers, ensuring they are fully included and supported in the delivery of the sessions, helping them to develop skills and confidence.

Undertakes a supervisory role for expert with lived experience co‑trainers, ensuring appropriate support, leadership and coaching in line with organisational expectations.

Demonstrates the ability to co‑deliver training sessions. The sessions will utilise a range of methods, including traditional training delivery, group discussions, and film.

Demonstrates best practice facilitating training.

Regularly teaches large groups multi-professional, multi‑agency.

Employs learning interventions that are learner centred.

Ensures all the learning outcomes are fully achieved.

Recognises and addresses the needs of individuals and the group prior to, during and after the session.

Helps to keep participants and staff safe and confident in their surroundings and acts on safeguarding and health and safety concerns in line with organisation policies.

Appropriately challenges poor practice.

Keeps up to date with current and emerging thinking in health and social care practice, learning disability and autism, laws of consent (UK), The Mental Capacity Act 2005, The Human Rights Act 1998, The Autism Act 2009, Do not attempt cardiovascular resuscitation case law (DNACPR), LeDeR and other associated data.

Identifies trends and issues, escalating and acting on these as appropriate.

Attends meetings and training to develop relevant skills and knowledge and ensure consistent and high quality delivery.

Proactively reflects on own practice to improve performance.

Carries out a range of tasks to support monitoring and evaluation.

Communicates complex information, verbally and in writing.


Qualifications

* Good standard of education - equivalent of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English
* A relevant training qualification (level 3) or teaching qualification such as Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), Multi‑professional support of learning and assessment in practice or an equivalent


Experience

* Clear experience of proficient and successful delivery of face‑to‑face training in health and social care or similar environment.
* Has an up to date working knowledge of the fields of autism and learning disability and is familiar with current issues.
* Has experience leading and developing quality practice in others.
* Experience Managing People via Temporary Staffing.
* Lived Experience of neurodiversity, accessing healthcare services and the impact of physical disability.
* Knowledge and experience of a variety of learning and development methodologies and their application, in particular coaching, action learning, and facilitation.
* Knowledge and understanding of the learning cycle and its application OR willing to learn.
* Ability to give objective, accurate, consistent and timely advice in relation to health and social care learning and development, within the


Knowledge and skills

* Robust knowledge and understanding of learning disability along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation.
* Robust knowledge and understanding of autism along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation such as the Autism Act 2009.
* Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety
* Commitment to own professional development.
* Robust time and project management skills to ensure the training is delivered on time, with all learning outcomes adequately addressed.
* Proven ability to deliver a wide range of highly effective training and learning interventions to a wide variety of health and /or social care audiences.
* Skilled in the facilitation of learning through a variety of means related to a deep understanding of differing learning styles and support needs.
* Ability to work in a self‑directed manner as part of a distance‑managed team, utilising good organisational skills to prioritise and manage workload.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to easily build rapport
* Ability to persuade and influence learners' attitudes at a range of levels.
* Excellent presentation skills
* Ability to co‑facilitate with experts by experience.
* Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
* Able to competently use Microsoft packages: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel; and Teams and Zoom
* Knowledge and experience of using learning technologies and digital media
* Robust experience and understanding of the Human Rights Act 1998, the Autism Act 2009, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent laws and DNACPR case law.
* Robust experience, understanding and application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 within in a health and/or social care environment or similar.
* Knowledge of health and social care sectors and current and emerging trends that constitute best practice in delivering health and social care support.
