Background

Hyundai Capital UK Ltd is a joint venture operating under Hyundai Finance, Kia Finance, and Genesis Finance brands, offering funding solutions to retailers and consumers.

Job Purpose

The Project Manager, reporting into the Senior Strategy & Project Manager, is responsible for supporting delivery of HCUK’s commercial objectives through managing and supporting the wider business in working through projects from initiation through to completion. The individual will deploy the company’s project management framework ensuring its consistent application across the organisation to deliver programmes of work involving the management of project sponsors, resources and internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager will also collate and report project updates to the SMT monthly.

Key Accountabilities

.General Strategic

Responsible for supporting the Senior Strategy & Project Manager in the identification, management, control, and successful delivery of HCUK’s projects. This will be either through direct project management or providing support and guidance to business led initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

1. Directly support Senior Strategy & Project Manager on delivery and governance of cross departmental and centrally assigned projects – assignment given through centralised project governance and approval processes

2. Provide project management support and guidance across all projects within the business, including those not project managing directly. Provide support and guidance to business area Project leads as required.

3. Formulate and maintain a variety of project documentation to a high-quality including plans, risks & issues logs, meeting minutes and update reports. Ensure action items captured, communicated, and undertaken in line with plans.

4. Identify and implement ongoing business as usual controls and quality assurance actions as part of projects. Own key project related controls and quality assurance actions.

5. Understand and ensure compliance with all related and polices, regulations and mandates relevant to any project and deliverables.

.Planning & budgetary control

6. Take a brief, or a general project idea and translate it into a clear and well thought out project proposal, with a clear and concise business case / rationale.

7. Create a project timeline so that all stakeholders understand what is required.

8. Agree project costs and people resources and ensure resources managed in line with agreed budget, escalating potential issues if they arise.

9. Making sure own projects stay on schedule and assist other Project Managers (smaller projects) to deliver the same.

.Stakeholder engagement

10. Establish strong working relationships with all internal areas of the business, including key stakeholders, project sponsors, MD, DMD and SMT.

11. Manage disparate stakeholder agendas, making sure issues and low-level differences within projects are resolved to the benefit of all.

12. Escalate any material issues, or where there are various solutions to project challenges, where a Senior Management decision is required.

.Project Management Support

13. Effectively engage and support project resources within the business.

14. Actively support Project Managers within the business responsible for smaller projects, through training and sharing of knowledge and experiences.

15. Support through formal and informal training and coaching to all staff, where necessary and / or agreed.

.Communication and reporting

16. Communicate effectively with leadership team, including the Senior Strategy & Project Manager and the Strategy Director.

17. Ensure all communication delivered in a timely and clear fashion, tailored to intended audience, with expectations clearly set and met.

.Insight and continuous improvement

18. Establish an on-going review process to continually improve and refine the company’s project management framework including processes, capabilities, and performance for all small, medium, and large projects

.Risk and compliance

19. Assess, continuously monitor, and effectively manage all project related risks.

20. In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify risks, incidents, and breaches, in accordance with company policies and department procedures.

21. Any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested.

22. Planning - Capable of defining project scope and developing and delivering coherent and effective project plans to deliver, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and budgets. Able to prioritise, re-assess / re-plan and multitask, to keep projects running smoothly and on track.

23. Critical thinking - Able to analyse and evaluate situations critically to prevent issues before they arise.

24. Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able convey ideas and complex information in an easy-to-understand way, and influence others to act.

25. Teamwork - Excellent team player able to establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and business partners.

26. Time Management - Strong time management skills, delivering activities within prescribed timeframes through the effective prioritisation of actions across multiple projects and on-going programmes.

27. Influencing and negotiating skills - Able to engage with internal and external stakeholders to reach mutually beneficial business outcomes.

Required Experience and Expertise

Given the importance of delivering HCUK’s key goals, managed through Strategic Initiatives, the following minimum experience is required.

28. Experience in managing projects, across multiple business functions and internal and external customers, stakeholders and suppliers.

29. Able produce effective working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals and requirements, briefs and presentations

30. The ability to prioritise and multitask to keep projects running smoothly

31. Project management qualification(s) such as CAPM / APM, PMP, PRINCE or Six Sigma preferred but not essential.

Additionally, it is expected that any candidate can display good good understanding of the general market sector, can exhibit sound business acumen, have excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable and confident when dealing with internal and external senior management.
