We are a manufacturer of orthopedic components and materials manufactured to high specifications for the medical industry. Our main focus is to supplying high quality medical products to exacting customer and international specifications, supported by our Technical Department which is capable of testing polymeric materials to the highest standards. In order to support continued business growth we require an enthusiastic individual to join our business to work within our Laboratory facility.
Key Accountable Areas:
· Assist with research and development, continuous improvement of manufacturing facilities and contract testing
· Undertake routine batch testing to Customer and International Specifications / Standards whilst maintaining working practices in accordance with ISO 17025
· To carry out physical /mechanical and chemical analysis to customer and international specifications
· Ensure all Health & Safety procedures and practices are adhered to within the department
· Complete routine documentation as part of the daily operational status within the laboratory
· Daily operations of the technical laboratory as instructed by the Senior Technician
· To help with administrative functions
· Update and maintain Work Instructions, forms, SOPs and other associated documentation with the Q-Pulse quality management system
· Testing & report writing for Technical Projects
· Provide Technical support and training to other technical staff
· Learning new skills to provide cover for other technical roles within the department as required
· Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
· Maintenance of laboratory assets on the Quality management system

Required Qualifications/Knowledge:
· 5 GCSE (C or above) or A levels in relevant subjects (to include Mathematics, English and one Science subject) or equivalent qualifications
· Document and maintain records accurately
· IT functionality – use of Microsoft Word & Excel
· Knowledge of International Quality & Test standards
· Polymer Science & Technology
· Medical Devices (desirable)
· Previous experience working within a laboratory or similar role (beneficial)
· In house training, relevant to the role will be provided
Hours of Employment
· Monday to Thursday 8.30 – 5.00, Friday hour working week), which includes breaks.
· Duties and hours may vary dependent upon workload
