Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist

Job Summary
A vacancy has arisen for three substantive Consultant Paediatric Nephrologists to work 10 Programmed Activities. This post will replace three current locum positions. The successful candidates will join a team of 9 consultant colleagues in total (8.5 WTE) at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
The posts support and develop the existing paediatric nephrology portfolio, including maternity general nephrology clinics and the NW kidney network outreach clinics. All consultants provide hot‑week (or split 4:3 equivalent) on‑call provision at a 1:8 ratio, except for the academic professorial appointment.
Responsibilities
* Provide inpatient and outpatient care for patients with nephrology conditions.
* Focus on home haemodialysis, including expanding this service across the Northwest.
* Support emergency and out‑of‑hours coverage, including ward rounds on Saturdays and Sundays.
* Coordinate cross‑cover arrangements to maintain continuity of care during leave periods.
* Attract and supervise 10 Programme Activities and dedicate up to one SPA per week to professional development and teaching.
Qualifications and Experience
* MBChB or equivalent.
* Postgraduate qualification or equivalent MRCPCH.
* Completion of general professional training (paediatrics).
* Eligible for specialist registration in paediatric nephrology medicine; or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at interview.
* Recent clinical experience in a paediatric nephrology service.
* Strong team‑working, organisational, and teaching skills.
* Full registration with the GMC.
* Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT from interview date) or equivalent.
* MD, PhD, or other higher degree.
* Experience of audit.
* Publications in peer‑reviewed journals or demonstrated commitment to research in this field.
* Paediatric nephrology clinical genetics experience.

Salary
£113,565 to £150,569 a yearper annum (pro rata)
