Are you an empathetic Occupational Therapist with keen interest in Mental Health?

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Mental Health Occupational Therapist, to join our fantastic trust.

We are seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work as part of the team within Cherrywood Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit. Cherrywood is an 7 bedded unit that providesshort-term (up to one year) residential rehabilitation to help service users return to independent living. The unit enables people with severe and complex mental health problems to gain or regain the confidence and skills in everyday activities which will enable them to fulfil their potential for recovery and independence.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an established, dynamic and friendly residential rehabilitation inpatient service. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who would be committed to working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to support the recovery of individuals cared for in this context.


Main duties of the job

The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical leadership expertise, and has scope for personal and professional development within a highly professional and supportive environment.

The vacancy allows for a range of competencies as identified within the AFC Knowledge and skills framework, as well as a range of development opportunities within the area of mental health practice.

You will need to be a motivated and flexible team player with excellent communication skills. You will hold a current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of patient need and the development, implementation and evaluation of Occupational Therapy treatment and programmes of care, acting as a clinical team leader.

The post holder will take the lead with other senior staff in planning a high quality programme of therapeutic and occupational activities for a caseload of patients in a rehabilitation setting, and be involved in the delivery of these.

To educate, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff, students, patients and relatives.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Health Professional Council Registered Occupational Therapist


Experience

* Can demonstrate experience of working as a band 5 Occupational Therapist.
* Varied clinical approaches and specialist clinical skills developed over time.
* Established core skills, assessment, treatment and evaluation
* Core skills, assessment, treatment and evaluation
* Experience and competence in providing short term individual and group treatments


Knowledge

* In depth knowledge of models of care and expertise in professional approaches.
* Good working knowledge of Mental Health Act and Mental Health Processes such as CPA


Skills

* Excellent problem solving skills
* Able to lead on aspects of service provision and development
* Able to select and use appropriate standardized assessments


Personal disposition

* Ability to maintain quality in own work and encourage others to do so
* Willingness to travel to different locations to undertake role effectively
* Full driving license in order to drive the unit vehicle to access community-based activities
