Job Title: Deputy Systems Design Authority
Location: Newport, Wales, United Kingdom
Salary: Circa £70,000+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Providing expert technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams working on complex radar systems, including oversight of costs and resources.
* Applying and championing Systems Engineering principles across the full radar system lifecycle, from requirements capture to system integration, customer acceptance, and support.
* Supporting system assurance activities to ensure radar solutions meet performance, safety, and customer expectations.
* Defining and delivering acceptance strategies to verify system designs comply with technical and contractual requirements.
* Leading technical reviews to verify that engineering designs and documentation meet business, legislative, and customer standards.
* Mentoring and supporting the development of engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
* Maintaining expertise in Systems Engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Engineering, cyber security, and system safety practices.
Your skills and experiences:
* Strong Systems Engineering expertise with a background in hardware design and development, acting as a Technical Authority.
* Experience with requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS Next, JIRA).
* Deep understanding of engineering lifecycles and models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
* Confident communicator, able to present complex technical concepts clearly.
* Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) with a STEM degree or equivalent experience.
