Job Description Multidisciplinary Team Manager - Discharge to Assess Service within the Older Adults & UEC Directorate Permanent Grade 6 - £54,495 - £64,811 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Golden Hello payment - £1,000 and £5,000 per annum Working 36.5 hours per week Birmingham City Council's Adult Social Care directorate is looking for an experienced and values-led Multi-Disciplinary Team Manager to lead high quality, timely and cost-effective services for adults across the city In this key leadership role, you will be accountable for the management, operation and performance of services within your remit, supporting the identification and systematic review of service needs and the planning and delivery of Adult Social Care services - including exploring innovative approaches to service delivery both directly and via commissioned partners. Under the direction of the Head of Service (Operations and Partnerships), you will: Lead and develop Adult Social Care services to achieve council objectives, statutory duties and improved outcomes for adults in Birmingham Drive service improvement and embed best practice aligned to the Three Conversations model and key legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 1983. Provide visible leadership, set clear expectations, and continuously manage and improve performance and quality. Champion considered, shared analysis of risk/protective factors, and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed with Making Safeguarding Personal embedded in practice Lead partnership working internally and externally, including negotiating, leading and influencing multi-agency planning, review and decision-making meetings. Quality assure service delivery through auditing case files, liaising with citizens and partners, and monitoring practice standards. Be accountable for relevant budgets and contribute to directorate-wide financial monitoring and control processes (including, where required, contributing to external funding applications). Lead the response to statutory complaints in line with directorate procedures. Provide effective supervision, identify development needs, and support continuous professional development across the team Where required, chair investigations/case hearings (including disciplinary matters and employment tribunals) and deputise for the Head of Service / provide cover for other Team Managers What we're looking for You'll be a credible leader with strong Adult Social Care practice knowledge, able to deliver high-quality services and lead a multi-disciplinary team effectively. You will have: Sound knowledge of professional practice and the legal framework, including safeguarding, and experience handling complex complaints. A track record of improving services, focusing on citizens' needs, and delivering quality outcomes. Experience of partnership working and chairing multi-agency meetings to secure results. Strong resource and budget management experience, including allocating work and monitoring performance/quality. Confident leadership skills: clear decision-making, effective supervision, excellent communication, and the ability to manage change and complex people matters.
