APT Education is recruiting a dedicated KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a Birmingham primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children in Key Stage 2 (KS2) who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), non‑verbal communication, EAL (English as an Additional Language), and personal care requirements.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support for KS2 pupils with SEN needs
* Assist with personal care routines, communication strategies, and social development
* Adapt KS2 resources and activities to meet individual learning requirements
* Support non‑verbal and EAL learners with communication and inclusion
* Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track pupil progress
👤 Candidate Requirements
* Experience working with challenging behaviour is essential
* GCSEs in English and Maths are essential
* Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and EAL
* Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum and child development
* Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to working with older primary‑age pupils
* Enhanced DBS and references (APT Education will support with compliance)
