Contact information Anne Thompson, Team Leader - 01924 541571 About the role We are looking for individuals who have a flexible approach to working, those who are caring, kind and compassionate, and happy to work as part of a large but inclusive team within the Xray Departments of The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust includes Pontefract, Pinderfields (Wakefield) and Dewsbury Hospitals, the newly opened Wakefield Community Diagnostic centre (CDC). Health Care Support Worker undertake a variety of roles which include administrative and patient care duties, working closely with radiographers in the clinical setting. A reasonable standard of secondary education and basic computer skills are essential. Patterns of work are night shifts with a requirement to work Sunday night 8pm -8am & Monday night 10pm -8am. A total of 20 hours per week. Services are provided 7 days per week across the three hospital sites. Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is well placed along the M1 and M62 corridors with good links to Leeds and Sheffield. DUE TO THE ANTICIPATED HIGH NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POST WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE VACANCY BEFORE THE CLOSING DATE Main duties The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) is responsible for delivery of holistic, patient-centred care, which is planned and directed by health care professionals, and to support the radiology team in the delivery patient care which is safe and effective and in accordance with the Trusts values and behaviours. The post holder is fundamental to providing care to patients/carers/ relatives at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. Key requirements Working under the direction of a registrant, participate fully in the delivery of planned/acute care of patients attending the radiology service for treatment/ investigations, within the boundaries of your role which may include chaperoning of patients, escorting/ transferring of patients and providing 1-1 patient centred care or caring for a group of patients that require enhanced care. Demonstrates own duties/ role to new starters. Frequent exposure to emotional/distressing events, Orders supplies under the direction of the department lead. Participate in patient and public involvement activities. Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of the environment. Undertake mandatory training and role specific training relevant to role.
