Overview
Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) — Energy team. The transmission and distribution sector is rapidly transforming against a backdrop of growing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets and new innovations in technology. This is an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects across technical disciplines with clients across the country, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works and connection schemes. You will be part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, collaborating with other disciplines and supporting/leading FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment, extensions and new-build projects. We are looking for candidates who have worked with key T&D clients in the UK and are motivated to contribute to the UK energy transition.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, supporting/leading FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
* Collaborate with other disciplines and engage with clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to industry challenges.
* Coach and work within the wider energy team, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.
Qualifications
* Ideal: Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer.
* Broad experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and related components.
* Understanding of Protection & Control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
* Pro-active with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry and ability to work with a variety of clients in the energy sector.
* Ability to coach and contribute to the team and participate in industry best practices.
* Open to diverse backgrounds; training and development available for the right candidates with a related technical degree.
