About us We are a fast-growing UK recruitment agency specialising in temporary staffing within the care sector. We pride ourselves on compliance, candidate care and strong client relationships. We’re looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to lead and develop our compliance team, ensuring robust right-to-work, DBS and onboarding processes and high standards across the business.
Role summary You will manage a team of compliance officers and own the end-to-end compliance function, including DBS checks, right-to-work verification, issuing employment contracts, creating KID documents and maintaining auditable records and processes. You’ll work closely with operations, payroll and clients to ensure timely, accurate and legally compliant worker onboarding.
Key responsibilities
* Lead, coach and develop a team of compliance officers; set priorities and monitor performance
* Oversee right-to-work checks and verification processes in line with UK law and best practice
* Manage DBS checks and ensure timely completion and accurate record-keeping
* Generate and issue employment contracts, KID documents and other onboarding paperwork
* Maintain and improve compliance policies, procedures and audit trails
* Manage quality assurance and regular audits of compliance files
* Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve compliance queries and obtain approvals
* Keep up to date with employment, immigration and data-protection legislation and implement changes
* Produce regular compliance reports and KPIs for senior management
* Support investigations and remediation where compliance issues arise
Essential skills & experience
* Proven experience in a compliance role within recruitment/temporary staffing (or closely related sector)
* Experience managing a small team
* Strong knowledge of UK right-to-work checks, DBS procedures and relevant legislation
* Experience issuing employment contracts and onboarding documentation
* Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal; confident liaising with clients and candidates
* Proficient with Microsoft 365; familiarity with ATS/CRM systems an advantage
Desirable
* Experience with audit processes and building SOPs
* CIPD or compliance-related qualification
* Experience working remotely and managing distributed teams
