Layers Restoration is a relatively new oil painting conservation studio based in Cheltenham, in the picturesque Cotswolds. We’re currently a team of four (conservator, fine art researcher, frame restorer and assistant conservator) with ambitious plans for the future. Our current clients are collectors and art dealers who expect us to offer an efficient, cost-effective, service while working to a professional standard.
We’re seeking an energetic Easel Painting Conservator with a relevant masters degree and ideally at least three years of experience. It’s an important role for us as you will be be actively involved in numerous projects on a daily basis. You can also play your part in helping us to continually improve our professional standards, technology, and methods of working. You will also be required to work quickly, yet diligently.
Typical Tasks
* Surface cleans
* Varnish removal
* Fills and retouching (generally mimetic)
* Repairing tears and holes
* Flattening bumps in canvases
* Consolidation
* Hand lining/relining canvases
Qualifications Required
Masters in Art Conservation, or equivalent training.
Salary: £25,000-£29,000 (based on experience) + 28 days annual leave including bank holidays.
