Overview

Job Title: Business Intelligence Graduate

Location: Forth Ports Ltd, Carron House, Dock Road. Location for role: Port of Grangemouth or Port of Leith.

Compensation: £32,000

Start Date: August 2026


About the Programme

Forth Ports is investing in emerging talent through the 2026 Graduate Programme. The two-year programme provides structured training and development, dedicated mentors, and clear progression pathways. You will gain hands-on experience on impactful projects and work toward relevant professional qualifications while building specialist knowledge in your chosen area. You will learn alongside peers and leaders from across Forth Ports to develop the capabilities needed for a successful long-term career with the company.

Assessment day for this role is on Friday 27 March at the Port of Grangemouth. We will contact you beforehand if you have been selected to attend.


What you will learn

As a Business Intelligence Graduate, you will help deliver value from data to support the company’s transition towards a more data-driven culture. You will work with stakeholders across the business to unlock insights, improve data availability and quality, and support better decision-making through clear, actionable intelligence. This role offers hands-on experience across the full BI lifecycle, combining technical development with collaboration, communication, and continuous learning as you grow towards owning end-to-end BI projects.

* Learn how to gather, refine, and translate business requirements into BI and AI solutions
* Build and maintain high-quality datasets that support robust, repeatable reporting and analytics
* Develop skills in ensuring data integrity, quality, security, and governance
* Communicate insights effectively through dashboards, reports, and presentations
* Work with stakeholders to improve their BI capability through training and engagement
* Gain exposure to advanced analytical techniques such as statistical modelling, forecasting, and AI applications
* Stay up to date with emerging technologies through research, networking, and continuous development
* Apply transparent, well-documented, and repeatable analytical methods
* Progressively take on more responsibility, working towards leading end-to-end BI projects

What are we looking for?

We are seeking someone who is curious, analytical, and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in using data to solve real business problems. You’ll be proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, with a strong desire to develop both technical skills and the ability to communicate insights clearly and responsibly.

Requirements

* A degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics) with a minimum 2:1 achieved or expected
* Proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Python (or similar BI/analytics tools)
* Full UK driving licence due to travel across our Ports
* Permanent permission to work in the UK by the start of employment
