An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person with relevant skills and experience to join Cardiac ITU/HDU/PACU at Morriston Hospital which is a 18 bedded Unit which provides specialist nursing care to patients following cardiac, thoracic and general surgery.
This an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated NMC registered nurse with existing or promising strong clinical and leadership skills.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be committed to delivering high quality care and can work well as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the individualised care of patients on their elective/inhouse surgical pathway.
To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing practice whilst co-ordinating and liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To assist with support and supervision of students and junior members of the team.
To supervise and co-ordinate other staff as appropriate and take charge of the unit

Essential criteria
1. Relevant clinical experience
2. Relevant leadership experience
3. Relevant experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
4. Proven post registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing team of staff.
Desirable criteria
5. Experience of leading a team
Qualifications
Essential criteria
6. NMC registered Nurse with active NMC Registration
7. Recognised management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies e.g. Bronze IQT
8. Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
Aptitude and Abilities

9. Working a shift pattern which is complementary to role within leadership team of clinical area, with aim of providing maximum visibility of nursing leadership team across 7 days of week - to be agreed with nursing Management team on appointment
