As the Electrical Design Engineer, you will work with the Senior Management team to deliver highly efficient building services design across various sectors such as education, residential, bespoke houses, care homes, healthcare, offices, leisure, and industrial units across the East Midlands.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare designs, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation for electrical services as part of a project team.
2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and future developments.
3. Coordinate effectively with other disciplines and specialist consultants.
4. Represent and promote the company professionally at all times.
5. Undertake feasibility studies to assess project viability and design options.
6. Prepare detailed budget costs and estimates as required.
7. Deliver projects in line with Building Regulations Part L, BREEAM, and other regulatory obligations.
8. Collaborate with mechanical, energy, and Part L engineers to develop low-energy design solutions.
9. Attend design team and project meetings on behalf of the company.
10. Prepare specifications, equipment schedules, and fully coordinated drawings and documentation (RIBA Stage 5).
11. Conduct site quality and legislative inspections and prepare associated reports.
12. Deliver innovative and commercially viable technical solutions.
13. Produce technical reports, specifications, and contract documentation.
14. Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience in electrical building services design, including emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
* Strong knowledge and understanding of BS7671 standards.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Dialux, Relux, Amtech, and/or Hevacomp.
* Background in design consultancy or contracting.
* Experience across general electrical building engineering services.
* HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Solid experience in electrical detail design and performance-based design.
* Confident, personable, and client-facing, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
