Job overview

The Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Engineering Manager on a permanent contract.

The post holder with develop, implement and manage on a day to day basis a Clinical Engineering Department to ensure that the Trust’s medical devices are maintained and repaired in a timely, responsive and effective manner.

Main duties of the job

Offer specialist advice, instructions and information to clinical and non-clinical staff on the use, maintenance, repair, evaluation and procurement of new and existing medical devices
Ensure that a high quality technical support service is provided by the Clinical Engineering department through the efficient and professional management of staff and department resources.
Provide a comprehensive commissioning & technical support service for a wide range of clinical equipment.
Ensure the safe operation of the Trust wide Clinical Engineering Department through the provision of appropriate risk assessments and operational policies.

Person specification

Qualifications

* Minimum BSc in Electronics/Mechanical engineering or HND/C Electronics/Mechanical Engineering + 5 years of post graduate engineering
* Full British driving licence, Category B for at least two years. (Up to three penalty points would be considered dependent upon offence code).

Experience

* Experience of the use and ongoing development of medical devices management databases.
* Managed multiple tasks and prioritised workload to match objectives.
* Experience of practical problem solving and solving complex medical device problems.
* Experience of managing/supervising staff in a clinical engineering environment.
