Welder Opportunities
As a Welder, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We have opportunities for Welders to work on a wide range of Submarine projects. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most critical defence projects – HMS Victorious. You’ll contribute directly to the maintenance and modification of submarines and naval vessels, helping to protect national security. This is more than just welding – it’s precision engineering with purpose.
What you’ll do:
1. Work primarily on submarines, with additional tasks on ships and in factory environments.
2. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions
3. Executing high-quality welding using specialised tools and machinery
4. Supporting the HMS Victorious project within our Submarines business unit
5. Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to meet project milestones
What you’ll need:
6. Reading engineering drawings and interpreting technical instructions
7. Using general workshop tools and welding machinery confidently
8. Experience in marine engineering, ideally with Royal Navy or commercial vessels
9. Background in shipyard or factory-based welding environments
10. Time-served apprenticeship in marine or naval engineering
11. Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to welding
12. Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification
13. Level 2 Engineering qualification with substantial hands-on experience would be desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
