Senior Clinical Fellow - Gastroenterology

Role overview
We are looking for a dedicated Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Gastroenterology team at Stepping Hill Hospital. The post is full-time (40 hours per week). The appointee will participate in teaching and mentoring of junior medical staff, medical students and specialist nurses, with full support for professional development.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the investigation and treatment of in-patients admitted to the Gastroenterology service.
* Provide middle-grade support to the junior team on the wards and participate in ward cover core duties as required by rota.
* Attend consultant ward rounds and present cases with discussion of differential diagnoses and management plans.
* Conduct outpatient clinics with supervised experience in case presentation and management discussions with supervising consultants.
* Opportunity for training in endoscopy.
* Maintain full clinical records for patients admitted to the ward; produce written summaries at discharge; participate in audit data collection and attend clinical governance/audit meetings.
* Assist in dictating outpatient letters and jointly manage patients with other junior clinical fellows and trainees within the department.
* Support teaching and mentoring of junior staff and students; contribute to service development where appropriate.
Qualifications and requirements
* Medical degree with relevant senior clinical experience in Gastroenterology.
* Willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring and professional development activities.
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and participate in a full shift rota as part of ward cover.
