As a Class 2 Refuse Driver, you will play a crucial role in keeping Newport clean and green. Your primary responsibility will be to safely operate a Class 2 refuse vehicle, working alongside a team of dedicated loaders to collect waste and recyclables from various locations. You will ensure that all collections are completed efficiently, on time, and in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Operation:
2. Safely and efficiently operate a Class 2 refuse vehicle, ensuring compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies. Conduct thorough daily vehicle checks to ensure your vehicle is in a safe and roadworthy condition. Promptly report any defects or issues to your supervisor to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
3. Route Planning:
Assist in planning and optimising collection routes to enhance efficiency and meet scheduling commitments. Utilise GPS technology and other navigation tools to avoid traffic and improve route efficiency.
4. Waste and Recycling Collection:
Work collaboratively with a team of loaders to collect refuse and recyclables from residential, commercial, and public areas. Ensure all waste is securely loaded onto the vehicle, preventing spillage during to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your team, and the public. Use appropriate safety gear and equipment, such as high-visibility clothing and safety shoes, during all operations.Provide excellent customer service by addressing any queries or concerns from members of the public in a friendly and professional manner. Represent the company positively and uphold its reputation for reliability and efficiency.Maintain accurate records of collections and any incidents or issues encountered during your route. Utilise company systems for effective tracking and documentation of waste collection and disposal.
