A Procurement Assistant vacancy has become available in the Procurement Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in starting a career in Procurement.

We are looking for talented individuals with a capacity for learning and to take the lead on sub-categories within our goods and services procurement. As part of our close-knit Procurement Team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your professional knowledge and experience.

The Procurement Assistant will take responsibility for smaller value sub-category areas, and support the team as required with various procurement activities. The postholder will be required to interact with internal departments and Suppliers/Contractors, strong communication skills are essential.

An understanding of Procurement activities, legislation and contract law would be advantageous in addition to experience of Public Sector Procurement Regulations.

The Procurement Assistant will be required to:

2. Undertake Procurement and Contracting for sub-category areas with support from Team management.
3. Provide Procurement procedural support/advice and guidance to Faculties and Departments to aid Procurement activity across the University (guidance will be provided). Conduct Contract Management duties, e.g. managing extensions, preparing contracts from templates, advertising opportunities and contract awards etc. Assist the University to achieve value for money through the promotion of best purchasing practice, as well as compliance with internal and external regulations governing Procurement activity.

To be successful in the Procurement Assistant role you will have:
