We are seeking to appoint two Clinical Research Fellows, who will be involved in a major research project in digital health, technological innovation, patient safety or disease mechanisms directed by Professor Ara Darzi, while working towards a PhD degree. The research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals.
The successful candidates will work across our research themes, including alongside policy makers and researchers in the Centre for Health Policy in the Institute of Global Health Innovation, product designers in the HELIX Centre, and leaders in Safety and Quality in the NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaborations.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an interest in research and they would be expected to register for a higher degree (PhD). You must be able to demonstrate some previous experience in research and must show evidence of ability to develop personal research projects.
Key Responsibilities within Imperial
The post holders will be required to undertake a leading role in a major research project, as directed by Professor Darzi and a nominated academic supervisor. The research project will entail project design, experimental work in addition to data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals. Research projects will be in the areas of healthcare technology, education and training, surgical science, Health Policy, Design and Innovation for healthcare, Safety and Quality, and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
Key responsibilities in associated Hospital
These will be defined in a separate job description provided by the NHS/Private Hospital, wherever the clinical aspect of this role is located. An honorary contract/license to attend at the appropriate level will be issued by the hospital.
A degree in medicine (MBBS or equivalent) and full General Medical Council (GMC) registration is essential. You will have or be working towards MRCS or equivalent. We are seeking Core Trainee and Specialist Trainee level individuals, with appropriate ATLS/ALS qualification. Proven experience in an acute hospital setting is required.
The post holders will also be required to fulfil clinical commitments within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, among others, to contribute to their on-call rotas.
