About the role We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Manager to join the team at our Portbury manufacturing site. The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the mixing and packing unit and will be focused on ensuring performance targets are either met or exceeded through effective leadership and driving continuous improvement. Key responsibilities Responsible for the leadership and management of the Department Lead the Production team to ensure they are engaged and high performing with a focus on problem solving and teamwork. Build trust through effective leadership and the skilled application of people management processes and open 2-way communications Accountable for managing all people safety, food safety and quality initiatives in the department Control all direct and indirect costs that directly affect the Department performance Direct and lead all operations within the Department to drive up efficiencies Provide operational leadership to drive up the KPIs of Safety, Quality, labour cost, attainment to plan, OTIF and OEE Develop and maintain trained personnel Develop a safe environment and safe behaviours within your team Set overall expectations/standards and motivate employees to perform Drive a continuous improvement lean mind-set Support colleagues to enhance employee engagement Execution and managing through SAP and the process manufacturing operating models including 1KPS Qualifications and skills Experience in a similar manufacturing environment at a leadership level, experience of food manufacturing is highly desirable. Ideally Degree qualified in a Food Science, Engineering or Manufacturing related discipline (not essential). Able to demonstrate track record of success in a changing, fast moving environment. Experience and sustainable success of managing change and continuous improvement. Ability to clearly identify bottlenecks within a manufacturing process, capable of quickly interpreting and “owning” the process and able to extrapolate the detail Highly KPI orientated – capable of achieving over and above expectations, use the information to create further capacity and business growth/development Customer orientation – realisation of who the customer is, strives to over deliver in all areas and experience of delivering change across the business Passion for results, able to influence and persuade, apply logical thinking and common sense approach. Strong leadership capability and ability to lead a team Gain instant credibility and respect from peers and sub-ordinates. Create a presence and instant level of authority Formal CI Training e.g. VSM, SIC, Kaizan, 5S, GMP, SMED, OEE is desirable (but not essential).
