We’re looking for a skilled and driven HV Engineer to join our high-performing team. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where safety, precision, and expertise come first. What You’ll Be Doing
As an HV Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and supporting essential electrical infrastructure. Your day-to-day will include:
* Maintaining and servicing a wide range of HV and LV equipment
* Diagnosing faults and responding to emergency call-outs
* Working with protection relays (Auxiliary, T154, Micom P, Earth Fault, Overcurrent)
* Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and system schematics
* Carrying out isolations and earthing as an authorised person
* Taking on full Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsibilities
* Issuing and accepting permits to ensure safe systems of work
* Commissioning new equipment (both hot and cold commissioning)
* Maintaining both electrical and mechanical components of equipment
* Using specialist testing equipment with confidence and accuracy
* Working with mineral oil-based systems
* Representing the company professionally on client sites
Additional Responsibilities
* Approving risk assessments and method statements to ensure safe delivery of work
* Conducting site surveys, identifying issues, and recommending solutions
* Supporting project tenders with technical input
* Supporting the Engineering Manager as required
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a proactive, team-focused mindset:
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems and infrastructure
* Experience using specialist HV/LV testing equipment
* Ability to read, interpret, and update single-line diagrams
* Solid understanding of electrical safety, isolations, and earthing practices
* Awareness of industry regulations and legislation
* Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build client relationships
* A collaborative, team-oriented approach
Qualifications & Experience
* Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
* HNC (preferred)
* Around 5+ years’ experience in a similar or developing HV role
* A-level or BTEC in Mathematics or a related subject (preferred)
