Deputy Pharmacy Production Manager at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust (UHBW). Lead Pharmacy Production Unit, ensuring quality, compliance, and safety of pharmaceutical products. Work with pharmacists, technicians, scientists to advance healthcare.
Main Responsibilities
 * Support the Associate Director of Pharmacy – Production in leading the unit and delivering specialist pharmacist input.
 * Maintain and progress operations, quality management systems and people services within the unit.
 * Supervise, check and release products prepared and dispensed in the department as an authorised pharmacist.
 * Serve as departmental lead for Clinical Trials and Investigational Medicinal Products.
 * Collaborate with the in‑house Quality Assurance Team on implementation of new products, processes, systems and equipment.
About the Unit
Unit holds 'Specials' and Investigational Medicinal Product licences, is MHRA accredited, and performs aseptic dispensing of products under Section 10 exemption and Pharmacist supervision. Product types include CIVAS, monoclonal antibodies, ATMPs, aseptic/non‑sterile batches, extemporaneous preparations, and outsourced unlicensed products such as Total Parenteral Nutrition.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Masters degree (or equivalent) in pharmacy
 * Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance or equivalent experience
Registration
 * Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacist
Desirable
 * Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Essential Experience
 * Extensive experience in a hospital pharmacy technical services department
 * Previous experience in a GMP environment
 * Experience of qualification and validation as applied to EU GMP
 * Prior experience of Clinical Trials and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
 * Experience in manufacture and dispensing of aseptic and non‑sterile IMPs
 * Managing staff on a day‑to‑day basis
 * Experience in training staff, setting objectives and delivering appraisals
Desirable Experience
 * Experience of external regulatory inspections
 * Experience of clean room design and specification
 * Experience of specialised equipment used in pharmaceutical production including the use of automation
 * Experience of managing budgets and financial reporting
 * Experience of using electronic prescribing systems

 * Extensive knowledge of quality systems, GMP, current professional standards and legislative requirements
