Children’s Residential Support Worker

Salary: Up to £16 per hour, depending on experience
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential service in Greenwich.
This is a rewarding role supporting children and young people in a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment. As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care, emotional support, guidance, and consistency to children and young people who may have experienced trauma, emotional distress, self-harm, disruption, or complex circumstances.
The Children’s Residential Support Worker role is ideal for someone with experience in residential childcare, children’s services, youth work, supported living, education, or a similar care setting. Candidates must have experience supporting children or young people who present with self-harming behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will:
* Support children and young people with their daily routines
* Provide emotional and practical support in a residential setting
* Support young people who may present with self-harm, emotional distress, or challenging behaviours
* Help create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment
* Build positive and professional relationships with children and young people
* Encourage independence, confidence, education, and personal development
* Support young people with appointments, activities, and community access
* Follow care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour support plans
* Record daily notes, incidents, observations, and key information accurately
* Work as part of a team to promote positive outcomes
* Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and high standards of care
About You
Our client is looking for a Children’s Residential Support Worker who is:
* Experienced in children’s residential care, youth work, social care, education, or a similar setting
* Experienced in supporting children or young people who present with self-harming behaviours
* Calm, patient, and able to manage challenging or high-risk situations professionally
* Understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable children and young people
* Confident writing clear, factual, and professional records
* Compassionate, reliable, and committed to making a positive difference
* Able to work well as part of a team
* Flexible and willing to support children and young people with day-to-day routines
