Medical Directorate Assistant
The Medical Directorate Support Service is looking for a dynamic, friendly and organised administration assistant to work within the Medical Directorate Team based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. The post is part‑time (32 hours per week) and the closing date is 26 May 2026.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administration support across the Medical Directorate portfolios, including record keeping, scheduling, preparing correspondence, managing diaries, minute taking and supporting team meetings.
Qualifications
* NVQ 3 in administration or equivalent.
Experience
* Previous administrative experience in a customer‑focused organisation.
* Proven experience of working as part of a team.
* Operating word‑processing and computer packages.
* Experience in planning, organising and servicing meetings, including minute taking.
Knowledge
* Commitment to continuing professional development with portfolio.
* Awareness of equality issues.
* Knowledge of working‑time regulations.
* Knowledge of Data Protection legislation.
* Use of Outlook to arrange and manage multiple diaries.
* Experience of admin and clerical role.
* Proficient in IT / Microsoft packages.
* Experience of exporting, collating, analysing and drafting information into presentable formats.
* Knowledge of regulatory functions related to doctors including Junior Doctor Contract.
Skills
* Approachable and able to work as part of a team.
* Work to processes and task‑management prioritisation.
* Ability to work accurately and prepare routine written correspondence.
* Capability to build and maintain effective relationships and communicate effectively.
* Advanced IT skills, including proven abilities in using Microsoft Office.

Disclosure and Barring Service
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) will be required. Costs will be deducted from salary over a 4‑month period or paid as a one‑off.
