Job Overview
Camden Adults Service is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational lead to step into a Band 8B Service Manager role for a fixed term period of 8 months. The role has arisen as a result of a secondment within Camden Adult Services Senior Management Team (SMT) and the core responsibility is to provide day-to-day operational leadership support to operational service leads and team leaders within the Camden adult portfolio. This role will include management of the Specialist Palliative Care, Heart Failure, COPD and Camden Neurology and Stroke Service. The role is primarily one of oversight, working with the active support of other members of the SMT, to ensure services are held to account for performance, with direct delivery of management supervision to relevant operational leads. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly to provide support across the adult services where this is needed, during this time of flux. The successful candidate will be expected to start immediately after interview and must be able to start as soon as possible.
Main duties of the job
* Ensuring services are performing to expectations against supervision, mandatory training, recruitment, annual leave, rostering
* Being the first point of contact for staff queries and challenges
* Having oversight of budgets and supporting CIP delivery
* Ensuring cascaded information is shared appropriately with teams

Qualifications (Essential)
* Educated to Masters level or have sufficient equivalent experience in an operational role
* Recent CPD evidence
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Project management qualification Health or Social Care qualification
Experience (Essential)
* Significant experience working in an operational role in a health or social care setting
* Evidence of previous partnership working
* Experience of dealing with complaints
* Team management, including recruitment, appraisals and staff development
* Project management within a complex, multi-agency service system with a sound track‑record of successfully leading substantial change management programmes
* Experience of managing large financial budgets, of delivering QIPPS and CIPs, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources
Experience (Desirable)
* Experience of Community Healthcare Services in the NHS
* Experience of setting up and bedding in new services
Skills and Knowledge (Essential)
* Able to demonstrate high level of personal professional autonomy and accountability
* Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources
* Prioritising and managing workload within a busy operational role
* Understanding of governance and risk management processes and its impact on practice as well as experience in managing these processes
* Experience of financial management of large and complex budgets including delivery of QIPPS and CIPs
* A good understanding of the changing NHS environment both locally and nationally, particularly in relation to community services
* High level of work organisation, self‑motivation, drive for performance and improvement
