FT Recruitment are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Buyer to join our clients procurement team, based in Inverness. The successful candidate will support the purchasing process by coordinating with suppliers, analysing inventory needs, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in supply chain management within a dynamic organisation. The ideal applicant will possess strong organisational skills, experience with ERP systems, and a keen understanding of procurement procedures. Prior experience as a procurement or purchasing administrator is desirable for this role. Responsibilities Assist in the sourcing and purchasing of goods, materials, and services in line with company requirements Utilise ERP systems to manage purchase orders and track inventory levels. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and ensure timely deliveries Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and update relevant databases regularly Assist with preparation of tender documentation, compile procurement data and prepare reports on spend and saving metrics Support the procurement team in evaluating supplier performance and conducting market research Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement regulations throughout all purchasing activities Prepare paperwork and scheduling for supplier meetings, and take minutes when required Provide administrative support to the procurement manager and buyers as needed Skills & Experience required: Previous experience in procurement, supply chain or purchasing is essential for this role Proficiency in ERP systems & data entry packages as well as Microsoft packages Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish mutually beneficial agreements with suppliers Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy Ability to analyse data effectively to inform purchasing decisions Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise confidently with suppliers and internal teams Strong team player with the ability to work independently
