Overview
Applications are invited for a Chief Registrar post in Adult Critical Care Medicine for a 6‑ or 12‑month period commencing in August 2026. The role offers 40 % protected time to develop and implement local initiatives focused on service improvement, engagement and morale, education and training, workforce and sustainability. Chief registrars will be mentored by the Deputy Medical Director and attend five 2‑day modules of a bespoke RCP development programme.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership in Adult Critical Care Medicine and lead or participate in the airway rota.
* Develop and implement local initiatives aimed at service improvement, workforce sustainability, and staff engagement.
* Attend the RCP bespoke development modules and apply the skills to practice.
* Participate in quality improvement projects at the divisional level.
* Represent the Trust in divisional meetings as a key link between junior doctors and senior leaders.
* Maintain formal educational oversight through induction, an educational agreement, a personal development plan and regular appraisals.
Qualifications
* At least 2 years post‑foundation experience in an acute specialty, with a minimum of 12 months in Anaesthesia.
* Demonstrated interest in developing ICM and Acute Care skills to a higher level within a tertiary teaching ICU.
* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Willingness to work a 6‑ or 12‑month contract and attend the required educational activities.
