Marmon Rail Group is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator (Lanigan, Saskatchewan). This individual will be responsible for a wide range of safety tasks, provide service support to our Rail group, and participate in related projects. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, this is a highly visible and essential role within the organization.

manages Canada's largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. Our fleet has grown to include more than 30,5000 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 28 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.
Position Summary
Under the direction of Supervisor, with dotted line reporting to the Regional Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for establishing, implementing, and training staff on the Continuous Improvement program across mobile and on-site operations. This role involves serving as the primary contact for Procor's involvement in Apprenticeship programs, ensuring effective training delivery through both internal expertise and external resources. The coordinator will assess and identify new health and safety or technical training needs, manage training certifications, and maintain up-to-date training tools. Additionally, this position includes administering the Health & Safety program, monitoring the sustainability of training initiatives through ongoing coaching and communication. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Essential Functions
* Program Development & Compliance
* Develop, maintain, and enforce site-specific health, safety, and environmental programs in line with federal and provincial regulations.
* Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, industry standards, and customer requirements.
* Utilize EHS Insight and ISNetworld (ISN) to manage contractor compliance, training records, and safety documentation.
* Prepare and maintain all regulatory and customer-required documentation, logs, and postings.
* Risk Assessment & Inspections
* Conduct work observations, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and workplace inspections.
* Identify unsafe conditions, recommend corrective measures, and follow up to ensure resolution.
* Coordinate Hearing Test, Fit Test, confined space, hot work, fall protection, and PPE compliance initiatives.
* Training & Engagement
* Coordinate safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
* Provide ongoing safety training (e.g., Daily toolbox talks, emergency response drills, hazard recognition).
* Facilitate monthly Safety Meetings and Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and support employee engagement in safety programs.
* Incident Investigation & Reporting
* Lead investigations of workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries.
* Complete detailed reports, identify root causes, and track corrective/preventive actions.
* Provide metrics and safety performance updates to management as required.
* Continuous Improvement
* Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
* Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe railcar repair practices.
* Promote a proactive safety culture by recognizing positive safety behaviors and addressing concerns promptly.
* Customer Relations & Representation
* Bridge, maintain, and foster positive customer relationships by addressing safety concerns, demonstrating compliance, and ensuring transparency in safety performance.
* Represent the site in customer safety audits and meetings.
* Provide timely and accurate safety documentation to customers as required.
* Skills / Qualifications / Specifications:
Education & Certifications
* Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* Professional certification (CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent) preferred or working towards designation.
* First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS certification an asset.
* Experience
* 2–5 years of health and safety coordination experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy-equipment environment.
* Experience in railcar repair, transportation, or maintenance operations is a strong asset.
* Demonstrated knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and compliance systems.
* Hands-on experience using EHS Insight and ISNetworld (ISN) or similar contractor/safety management systems preferred.
* Skills & Competencies
* Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Skilled in conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
* Comfortable working on the shop floor, in confined spaces, and at heights as required.

Work environments include indoor facility settings and outdoor locations exposed to all weather conditions. Candidates should anticipate potential exposure to noise, fumes, and fluctuating temperatures.
