About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to gain hands‑on experience in a rapidly evolving industry while supporting key financial processes during an ERP system migration. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this person will assist in day‑to‑day finance tasks including sales and stock reporting, cash reconciliation and assisting with the migration to our new ERP system. The candidate will provide support to the overall team and will be able to work on their own initiative, be proficient in Excel and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
Responsibilities
* Reconcile daily UK online and store sales, ensuring all transactions are accurately captured in the current accounting software (Sage 200).
* Maintain sales records, investigate and report any discrepancies to the Finance Manager.
* Perform daily cash reconciliations for online and in‑store sales across various payment platforms, as well as the gift card platform, ensuring consistency across all transactions.
* Oversee petty cash management, including reconciliation and posting of entries.
* Assist with month‑end and year‑end closings by ensuring timely and accurate posting of relevant entries.
* Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation for the annual audit by ensuring that all financial data is organised and readily accessible, collating necessary financial documentation and reports.
* Support the finance team in the migration of financial data to the new ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics).
* Prepare ad‑hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager including but not limited to responding to internal and external queries relating to finance transactions.
Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience in a finance role, preferably within a retail or fast‑paced environment.
* Strong understanding of cash handling, reconciliations, and sales reporting.
* Experience with ERP systems and SAGE preferred.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to use initiative, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Experience with financial system migrations or transitions.
* Knowledge of retail industry financial practices.
* Previous exposure to supporting audit processes would be advantageous.
