Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer to work as part of an onsite team providing network infrastructure support, implementation, and management for a key customer. The role involves diverse responsibilities, from patching LAN connectivity for new customer equipment to documenting and implementing complex new network solutions.
The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
This role may require out-of-hours cover as part of a rota.
The tasks include (but are not limited to):
* Network installations and support
* Troubleshooting hardware and firmware issues on various equipment
* Deploying new logical networks via Change Control
* Onboarding new customers to new solutions
* Being a first responder for customer logged vaults
* Configuring and deploying network equipment
* Adhering to policies around security and data protection
* Meeting SLA requirements and customer satisfaction targets
* Creating and maintaining updates within the ticket system
* Following escalation processes and communicating issues appropriately
* Collaborating with HPE TAC teams to resolve issues
Required skills and attributes
* Proven networking experience of at least 5 years
* Exceptional customer service skills, including simplifying technical details
* Highly organized, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
* Confident, collaborative, and able to interface with all levels
* Proactive with work activities and supporting colleagues
* Ability to recognize and react with urgency and ownership
* Strong understanding of systems and network hardware, firmware, and software across multiple platforms
* Knowledge of network equipment from various vendors
* Strong understanding of LAN and Wireless networking
* Ability to obtain necessary security clearances for high-level UK government access
Desirable Skills
* Aruba LAN (CX, AOS, HPE Comware)
* Aruba Wireless
* Experience with NG Firewall equipment (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco)
* ITIL Service Management Foundation
* Experience in IT incident management
* Using cable test equipment like Fluke
